Abstract: (4 Views)
The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of monetary and fiscal policy on health expenditures as well as selected macroeconomic variables during the pandemic, especially the Corona pandemic in Iran. Accordingly, statistical data from 1368-1402 and the frequency of seasonal data are used. Research conducted at the micro level has focused on analyzing the effects of the disease outbreak on consumption opportunities and household income. Typically, illness leads to an increase in household health expenditures. Also, reducing business hours and, as a result, reducing household income, leads to a decrease in the consumption of non-health goods and savings and assets. Also, illness may disrupt the consumption of non-market goods; for example, it may lead to a decrease in leisure time due to caring for sick people. This study analyzes the effect of monetary and fiscal policy shocks on household health care spending. A dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model is used in this study. The structure of the designed model examines the effects of supportive monetary and fiscal policies on health care on macroeconomic variables. The results of this study indicate that monetary and fiscal policy shocks during the pandemic have led to an increase in health care spending.
