Evaluating the Academic and Research Portfolio of an East Asian Islamic Economist

Mansur Masih, Senior Professor of Finance and Islamic Finance at the Kuala Lumpur Business School, Malaysia, is a distinguished researcher in economics and econometrics. He was the recipient of the Islamic Development Bank Prize in Islamic Economics and Finance in 2022. He holds a PhD in Applied Financial Econometrics from the University of Leeds and an MA from the University of Manchester. Prior to joining the Kuala Lumpur Business School in 2019, he served as Professor of Finance and Econometrics at the National University of Malaysia and the Northern University of Malaysia, and held the Saudi-Aramco Chair Professorship at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia for eight years. He has accumulated 27 years of teaching experience at universities in Australia (UNSW and Edith Cowan) and the United Kingdom (Leeds), during which he has delivered courses in financial economics and econometrics at all academic levels. Dr. Masih’s research output includes over 156 internationally peer-reviewed articles, many published in top-tier, globally recognized journals. He has actively promoted advanced econometric methodologies in applied research through research workshops conducted in various countries, including Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia. In research rankings, he holds prominent positions in the fields of applied financial econometrics, Islamic banking and finance, and Islamic finance, and is counted among the world's leading authors in these areas. With a high citation index, membership on the editorial boards of 11 international journals, and service as a reviewing editor for 24 scholarly journals, Dr. Masih plays a significant role in the global academic community.
