Selective disclosure of causes and motives with a greenwashing approach

The present study was conducted with the aim of selectively disclosing its causes and motives with a greenwashing approach, which has three objectives to achieve the above goal. The present study is an applied and descriptive research type, and the statistical population of the study includes managers and activists of the Iranian capital market, who were determined as a statistical sample using the Morgan table to be 384 people. The data required for the study were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire and selected using a non-probability random method. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to analyze the data. The results of a focus group survey through a questionnaire on indicators of selective disclosure with a greenwashing approach showed that out of 86 identified basic themes, 62 factors were confirmed. As a result, in the dimension of individual characteristics, the component of behavioral abuse is ranked as the first priority, and the consistency of information with individuals' attitudes is ranked as the second priority, and the professional behavior of individuals is ranked as the third priority, and the individuals' misuse of information is ranked as the fourth priority, and the skills of information analysis and decision-making are ranked as the fifth priority. In the dimension of individual organizational behavior, the components of the behavior of company members and alignment with group values ​​are ranked as the first and second priorities, respectively. In the dimension of political causes, the components of governing laws are ranked as the first priority, and the dimensions of the company are ranked as the second priority, and environmental characteristics are ranked as the third priority, and political costs are ranked as the fourth priority. In the dimension of information characteristics, the components of the correlation between individuals' beliefs and published information are ranked as the first priority, and the content of information is ranked as the second priority, and the quality of information is ranked as the third priority.
