The issue of "good governance" is one of the most important subjects and new at the same time in the development literature that emerged from the 1980s onwards. Based on the concept of good governance, low or high government intervention is not a problem for development, but the main concern is the quality of government intervention. World Bank is defined good governance based on six indicators of voice and accountability, political stability, government effectiveness, regulatory quality, rule of law, control of corruption. In this study, relied on indicators of good governance in Islam and using FMOLS, the effect of good governance on health outcomes (life expectancy at birth) is examined, in Iran during 1996-2014. The results of model estimation show that in addition to socio-economic and health factors, governance is an effective determinant in improving health indicators and since the governance in Iran is weak, poor governance has a negative impact on life expectancy. |
